Morning of the Guest Star

On July 5th, 1054 A.D. the ancient Chinese recorded the appearance of a supernova, or as they called it a "guest star." It was bright enough to be seen easily, even in the daytime. Over several months its brightness faded into oblivion. What was really witnessed was the explosion of a massive star whose remains are now known as the Crab Nebula which is found in the constellation Taurus.
